OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Educational Management and Leadership (Mandarin)

Overview

The OTHM L7 Diploma in Educational Management and Leadership (Mandarin) qualification develops learners’ understanding of policy, management theory and practice in education enabling learners to be able to work in a variety of roles within education administration and/or management.

This qualification from OTHM is particularly suitable for mature learners who wish to follow a relatively shorter programme of study that is directly related to the learner’s work experience or to an aspect of employment that students wish to move into in due course. On successful completion of the OTHM qualification, which is approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation), students would e awarded this qualification or contnue te study towards an MBA with advanced standing.

Objective

The objective of OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Educational Management and Leadership (Mandarin) qualification is to develop learners’ understanding of policy, management theory and practice in education. It provides learners with knowledge that underpins the ability to work as an effective manager in the education sector, combining both theoretical and practical knowledge in the education profession. Learners will be able to work in a variety of roles within education administration and/or management.

The course allows learners to specialize and progress in a variety of relevant subject areas as outlined below.

The course consists of the following 6 modules:

Unit 1 –Contemporary Issues in Education: Theory, Policy and Practice

Unit 2 –The Management of Educational Change

Unit 3 –Managing Effective Intercultural Communication and Perspectives

Unit 4 –Pedagogy and Practice in Education

Unit 5 –Leading Reflective Practice in Education

Unit 6 –Research Methods in Education

Unit 1 Contemporary Issues in Education: Theory, Policy and Practice

Students gain a thorough understanding of the link between current educational research and practice.

Unit 2 The Management of Educational Change

Students understand ways in which educational leadership and management can provide support during the process of change, developing leadership.

Unit 3 Managing Effective Intercultural Communication and Perspectives

Students learn the importance of managing intercultural communication and perspectives.

Unit 4 Pedagogy and Practice in Education

Students develop theoretical and practical grounding in pedagogic practices.

Unit 5 Leading Reflective Practice in Education

Students develop an understanding of reflective practice in order to apply this to an educational context.

Unit 6 Research Methods in Education

Students develop their research skills including understanding different research approaches, formulation of research proposals, planning research activities, analysing and interpreting data.

Progression Pathway

​​

Students who successfully completed the OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Educational Management and Leadership may wish to pursue further higher level courses in other institutions subject to meeting the minimum entry requirements and acceptance by the institution.

Requirements for Enrolment

Minimum entry age: 21 years old

​​

Minimum academic requirements: Minimum Bachelor Degree or Honour Degree at Level 6 or any oversea degree or equivalent

For mature candidate who does not meet the above Minimum academic requirements, the candidate who is at least 30 years old with 8 years working experience may be considered subject to OTHM approval

Minimum Language Proficiency: Pass in English at C6 or better in GCE “O” Level or IELTS 6.0 or equivalent​.
