Overview

The OTHM L7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership (Mandarin) provides a focused and specialist course, linked to professional body requirements and National Standard where appropriate, with a clear work-related emphasis.

The qualification has a strong emphasis on practical skills development alongside the development of requisite knowledge and understanding in the sector.

This qualification from OTHM is particularly suitable for mature learners who wish to follow a relatively shorter programme of study that is directly related to the learner’s work experience or to an aspect of employment that students wish to move into in due course. On successful completion of the OTHM qualification, which is approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation), students would e awarded this qualification or contnue te study towards an MBA with advanced standing.

Objective

The objective of OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership (Mandarin) qualification is to develop strategic management and leadership skills for managers who have the authority and personal attributes to translate organizational strategy into effective operational performance. This qualification reflects current practice in strategic management and leadership and allows learners to develop and expand their high-level understanding of strategic management and leadership in the workplace. This qualification is suitable for mature learners with a background in academic study or alongside theoretical fundamentals.

The course consists of the following 6 modules:

Unit 1 –Strategic Management

Unit 2 –Strategic Leadership

Unit 3 –Strategic Human Resource Management

Unit 4 –Advanced Business Research Methods

Unit 5 –Strategic Financial Management

Unit 6 –Strategic Marketing

Unit 1 Strategic Management

Students learn about strategic and change management models, review strategic plans, propose strategic options, and create implementation plans to lead organizational changes.

​Unit 2 Strategic Leadership

This unit provides an in-depth understanding of the key principles and practice of leadership.

Unit 3 Strategic Human Resource Management

Students will evaluate the contribution of strategic human resource management, and the application of leadership and management theory for organizational benefit.

Unit 4 Advanced Business Research Methods

Students develop a critical understanding of the philosophical, practical and ethical concepts of research within the context of the business environment.

Unit 5 Strategic Financial Management

This unit enable students to apply financial principles relevant to management in an organizational context.

Unit 6 Strategic Marketing

Students understand concepts, methods and technical aspects of strategic marketing and the challenges associated with marketing in today’s business environment.

Progression Pathway

Students who successfully completed the OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership (Mandarin) may wish to pursue further higher level courses in other institutions subject to meeting the minimum entry requirements and acceptance by the institution.

Requirements for Enrolment

Minimum entry age: 21 years old

Minimum academic requirements: Minimum Bachelor Degree or Honour Degree at Level 6 or any oversea degree or equivalent

For mature candidate who does not meet the above Minimum academic requirements, the candidate who is at least 30 years old with 8 years working experience may be considered subject to OTHM approval

Minimum Language Proficiency: Pass in Chinese at C6 or better in GCE “O” Level or High School or equivalent.​
